For some reason, I couldn't help but think of those T-shirts (etc.) that read, "Everyone should believe in something. I believe I'll have another drink." I suspect it's partly because Wolverine likes to knock back a few [dozen] — there's a really funny scene in an annual co-starring Captain Britain that postdates my main run reading X-Men, explaining that because of his mutant healing factor Logan has to try really hard to get soused and it wears off really quickly (or so I remember it). And it's partly because I grew up in a seashore resort town that had T-shirts like that for sale all over the boardwalk.

I believe that's X-Men Annual #11, the post "Mutant Massacre", pre "Fall of the Mutants" annual. I know that exchange happens SOMEWHERE, and your recollection sounds about right.
It also reminds me of issue #196, where it's established that Wolverine's healing factor helps ward off the negative health effects of cigar smoking.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
ReplyDeleteCute! Happy St.Patrick's Day to you and the Missus!

And thanks!
i'm ashamed that Wolverine ever runs into a leprachaun

ReplyDeleteIt's just around the corner, too!
If you've been missing the wacky hijinks of the Silver Age, just wait 'til leprechauns help the X-Men defeat Juggernaut.
It's sheer goofy brilliance.
