Efficient and Divine - Gene Kendall's New Crime Thriller (Also, Free Stuff)

Quick-witted and clean-cut Mason Mackay has something dark within. Struggling to accept his sinister urges, Mason must choose between those he loves and those who deserve brutal justice.

Gene Kendall here, once again acting like a hog and using a blog post to plug his projects. I've been at work for a few years now on Efficient and Divine, a small-town crime thriller series. (They're available on Kindle Unlimited, which is currently running a free trial promotion.) The first novel Almost Heaven is an origin story of sorts for Mason Mackay, a handsome documentarian who discovers a staggering capacity for violence.

Blind Cerulean: Brisk, Brutal, & Coming Soon

Gene Kendall here, appropriating a blog post like some hog and announcing the release of my new novel, Blind Cerulean. In recent years, I’ve written about a fictional ’90s post-Nirvana alt-rock band, a politically incorrect cartoonist who accidently brings a supervillain into reality, and a paranormal investigator/crappy husband who finds himself trapped in a corner of the afterlife with a coven of horny ghosts. It’s only natural that my next novel would feature a teenage vigilante determined to bring down a corpulent drug kingpin. Clearly, there’s a logical progression here.

Gene Kendall's New Novel -- Love is Dead(ly)!

Gene Kendall here, shamelessly borrowing a post to talk about my new novel, Love is Dead(ly), which is available for preorder on Amazon right now for just ninety-nine cents.
This novel has been in the works for quite a while now, with an early draft sitting in the drawer before I even began work on the Kindle Worlds G. I. Joe series. Love is Dead(ly) will be my first novel available as physical media, and the first time I’m working with a traditional publisher instead of going it alone. (This means the guy who spent so, so much time blogging about bad ’90s comics will now have a spot in libraries and bookstores worldwide. Scary.) The folks at Burning Chair have been great throughout the process, offering some insightful commentary while also respecting my creative peccadillos.

Black Hat Blues -- Now on Audible!

Gene Kendall here, promoting the audio release of my book Black Hat Blues as if I were born with no shame. This is my first excursion into the world of audio, and to be honest, it’s an avenue I never thought I’d explore.
But, I received an email out of the blue, raising the possibility of creating an audiobook through Audible’s ACX site. Investigating, I became intrigued at the prospect, but a little nervous about how this would play out.

Fifteen Minutes & Dark Moon Digest

I try not to shill things too often here, because

A. Nobody comes here for that.
B. We all have plenty of drains on our income even before we get to potentially fun stuff.
C. There are some people out there who are getting irritated by the seemingly-constant shilling of crowd-sourcing projects via things like Kickstarter.

But, every once in awhile there's something I feel compelled to use my relatively-microscopic little corner of the internet to promote, and right now that's the original graphic novel Fifteen Minutes by Anthony Hary. In addition to being a supremely talented artist and all around good guy, Anthony is the co-author, along with yours truly, of Crimson Masquerade, a sci-fi/fantasy novel we are in the midst of revising, which will hopefully be out sometime this year (and I apologize in advance for shamelessly shilling that when the time comes). So supporting Anthony now will also help support me in the future, and who wouldn't want to do that?

If you're so inclined, you can donate to the Fifteen Minutes Kickstarter here. Even just a buck or two will help make a difference, and will be greatly appreciated.

Also, as long we're talking about things you can buy from talented friends of mine, my pal, crit partner and fellow blogger Sarah recently had a story published in Dark Moon Digest (her second to be published by that magazine); the latest issue of which, containing said story, can be purchased here.

So if you've got a few extra bucks and want to check out some great stories while also helping out some friends of mine, there's two ways you can do it. If not, no harm, no foul.
