Plot
Spider-Man & Human Torch team-up to battle the Super-Skrull, who has escaped from the prison in which Mister Fantastic trapped him during their last encounter. Their fight spills out into the city, attracting the attention of Carol Danvers, departing on a cruise ship. When Super-Skrull manages to overpower both heroes, he flies off after the cruise ship, drawn by the presence of a cavorite crystal on board, which he hopes to use to power a spaceship home. He is attacked by Ms. Marvel, who manages to get ahold of the crystal before Super-Skrull punches her off the ship. She's caught by a recovered Spider-Man, and the two team-up to defeat Super-Skrull by super-charging the energy that empowers him and then transferring it into the cavorite crystal, which triggers a doorway into warp-space that sucks in Super-Skrull.
The figures on the cover to #62 are so dynamic my brain is almost convinced they’re actually moving. Gil Kane excels at that. And while not often the best choice of color for a superhero title, here the yellow background really makes the scene pop.
