Sovereign Seven was always a strange fit as a monthly DC title. Even so, Claremont clearly enjoyed his time in the DC sandbox, playing with toys that weren't his but showing some earnest affection for them. All three Sovereign Seven annuals had to bend to the company-wide themes for their respective years, and those issues produced some of the book's strongest material.
