I ...I read this once, as an adult, and that was it. I don't believe I thought much of it either way.

FYI, Doctor Killebrew does return in somewhat short order -- he's in the early issues of Joe Kelly's ongoing DEADPOOL series in 1996/97.Matthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14580725636327122073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-77384495760067715552019-01-07T08:43:56.482-06:002019-01-07T08:43:56.482-06:00I read this when it came out purely because of Wai...
I read this when it came out purely because of Waid. Deadpool meant nothing to me and Churchill’s art was not my style; those Lee Weeks pencils early in #2 were blessed relief all too short-lived. (“Don’t care for Ian Churchill? Here’s Ken Lashley!” is just mean.) Mark really nailed Wade’s voice, I think, although even having read the first mini now — I don’t believe I had back then, nor any X-Force — I still couldn’t say how much if anything he added to what had been established in the character’s relatively brief existence.

Other notes:

We don’t even see how Siryn’s outfit gets torn away; it’s simply intact one page, exposing her lace bra and cleavage the next, with no indication she’d done anything in that span other than watch Deadpool attack Tom.

This is labeled “Vol. 1” in the indicia, just like the first miniseries. Neither has a subtitle there. Of course indicia have never been reliable that way — sometimes a notation of “Vol. x” would be correct, but often not, and for several decades volume numbers on DC titles at least would flip forward each year even though the issue number wouldn’t reset, meaning you’d get one reading, for example, “Superman Vol. 39, No. 312”.

The fact that you felt the need to explain the Memorex reference makes me feel so. very. old.

A reference with some meta spin on it comes when Bert the barkeep dismisses Wade’s angst over the price he’s paid for his healing ability with “So you’re not modeling 501s.”

Blamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07342343767763035991noreply@blogger.com
