Good stuff. THAT'S why I don't watch Lost with anyone. And the unintentional hilarity of the Jears, but maybe, just maybe, he's slowly coming around.

@Palindrome: Good point about Jacob's selections being short on conviction. You'd think Richard, of all people, would be a bit more easygoing about it all. I mean, even if Jacob was full of BS, why not wait a few days before trying to get someone to kill you, just in case Jacob has a trick up his sleeve yet? He's lived this long; a few more days would be a drop in the bucket.

PS I loved when Hurley asked Richard if he was a vampire or a cyborg (and the fact that Richard said no and not "what's that?").Austin Gortonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14281239771248780430noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-67350994688279697932010-03-13T12:12:30.604-06:002010-03-13T12:12:30.604-06:00I too loved Jack so much in this episode and Ben! ...I too loved Jack so much in this episode and Ben! Yay for redemption!

I think Ben's change is genuine. I think the time for games is over with him...hopefully.

How is everyone who has been following Jacob for years losing faith so quickly? Why does Jacob keep touching people with weak convictions? :)

Anywho, that was probably ONE OF THE BEST episodes of the show. I also think there's a mention in "Man Behind the Curtain", Ben's first flashback episode, of his dad re-signing with Dharma to stay on the island longer; I assumed that when he mentioned leaving the island in this episode, it probably meant he didn't sign on for that extension in that reality.

Plus, their relationship seemed better than I imagine it would be if they had left during the evacuation, considering his dad had already become an abusive ass by then (but then, perhaps Ben getting shot tempered his anger).

Okay, so your point stands: perhaps it's not as definitive an indicator as I initially thought, but those are my reasons for thinking deviations in the realities occurred before Jughead.

When/why did it go under water if not for jughead?

That's the question, then, isn't it?
