I don't blame Marvel if they decide they don't want to...it IS a confusing, hot mess of a story...but for all the talk about the body-swap being a bad idea, I'm always surprised at how many people only really know Psylocke as "that ninja swimsuit girl". I feel like a trade would...well, not *answer* the questions about Psylocke, but at least give people a resource that isn't hunting down issues of X-Men v.2 that were never released in a trade.Ingonyamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17767964255684263275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-88866033844038594812018-09-25T13:09:05.316-05:002018-09-25T13:09:05.316-05:00Funny to see Professor X chiding Gambit for smokin...Funny to see Professor X chiding Gambit for smoking, when Silver Age Charlie used to smoke a pipe.Pascalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02063755332373858640noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-31512077770329107602018-07-27T15:29:47.570-05:002018-07-27T15:29:47.570-05:00I figured that too, but there are facts, and then ...I figured that too, but there are facts, and then there is the Truth.Teemunoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-80183027417868932392018-07-23T17:33:26.678-05:002018-07-23T17:33:26.678-05:00At any rate, I think that'd be good enough for...At any rate, I think that'd be good enough for a No-Prize.

Yeah, that works as a decent enough No-Prize explanation. I was mistaken; it's actually the cover of this one that I was thinking of. The interior image is okay, but the cover is fantastic.

Anyway, as I've said a lot lately, I liked this one as a youngster. I was totally on board with all the Revanche stuff, and while I liked the initial three-parter better than this two-parter, I still thought these issues were great. And there was no way you could've ever convinced fifteen-year-old me that Nicieza hadn't planned the entire thing out from the beginning. Nowadays, of course, I see flaws, but I still like the story for its continuity patch-job. A good fix will always get kudos from me, even if it's a writer reparing his own mistakes.

And this is another of those installments I might describe as a "quiet issue within an action story" that I talked about a month or two back. You get the obligatory fight scene with Spiral to open things up, but then it becomes pure soap opera the rest of the way through. And I still love that approach.

I never caught it until this most recent reading, but when Psylocke leaves the mansion for Japan and Archangel pulls up to give her a ride, Kubert kind of botched the perspective, and it looks like she's going to get into a comically tiny clown car.

"...followed by Psylocke caring entirely too much about keeping Matsuo alive."

I just kind of figured, due to the mingling of their minds when the transformation first occurred, that Psylocke has some subconscious feelings/affection for Kwannon's lover, and that's the reason for her talking him out of killing himself. She might not even realize herself why she does it (at least maybe until he restores Revanche's memories to her).

At any rate, I think that'd be good enough for a No-Prize.

"After Gambit corners Spiral, he declares 'bang, you dead'."

I really liked this callback for some reason. It gave me a nice warm feeling when I read it.Matthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14580725636327122073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-31238461049415802872018-07-08T10:24:23.638-05:002018-07-08T10:24:23.638-05:00As a kid I was happy to have all the hallucination...As a kid I was happy to have all the hallucinations and weirdness in #256 explained and clarified. As an adult I kind of prefer the “It’s weird Hand magic and it doesn’t totally make sense.” That said 31 & 32 get a bad rap online but I don’t think they are bad issues. I think the art is great and I loved the new digital coloring style.Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14447265712189987074noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-18935702555421636722018-07-07T16:37:59.531-05:002018-07-07T16:37:59.531-05:00leaving Psylocke as a character in a better place ...leaving Psylocke as a character in a better place than she started.

Yeah I would like to have my Mutant Massacre Betsy back now if that's all the same to you.
