In the end Ted reveals that Robin's name isn't Robin at all. He had changed her name in the story to fool the kids (and audience). But as I went down that road I realized it really wouldn't make sense at all....not that that stops this show from doing other plot lines.

"and like Jimmy Olsen's little brother turned out to be Jimmy Olsen, eye-roll"

No, Henry James Olsen's little brother turned out to be Jimmy Olsen. I'...
Once Upon a Time: Second Star to the Right

I'm not sure what was more hardcore: Regina unblinkingly declaring that she killed and buried Greg's father, or the fact that she was telling the truth, and had.

Are we to believe her? I know that there's a body buried there, but it ain't necessarily so that it's Greg's father and/or that whomever it is Regina killed him.

I'm intrigued by the prospect of the Home Office and the people behind Greg and Tamara ... [and] particularly intrigued by their ability to not only counter magic, but recognizes/analyze/understand it.

I like a good "shadowy organization" too. And the intermingling of magic with science can be interesting. I'm quite leery of this plotline, though, from shades of the Initiative to what the fact that other magic having broken through to our world means. It sort-of boils down to being unsure that the less-than-serious feel of the show, for all its death and darkness, can handle Storybrooke not being an anomaly — in large part because of all those unanswered and perhaps unanswerable questions about the relationship between real-world fairy tales and their origins in the other realms.

I really, really hope we don't get a fairyback next season showing us how Rumpelstiltskin acquired that tear from Regina.

Ha! I was more surprised by how high the ick factor was for me. The idea of mixing my own tear with someone else's (sworn enemy or not, even) kept in a vial for years and dropping it back in my eye creeped me out. Also, I thought that it was a cheat after Gold said that the spell would last until they found Regina but that Snow couldn't tell where she was, especially since it lasted for a while after she could experience was Regina was going through; if the idea was that Snow actually broke it off herself because the bond was too painful, that didn't come through.

Now to watch the finale — and a couple hours more good TV after that!

How I Met Your Mother: Something Old

Ugh. Words can't describe how sick I am of the Ted/Robin merry-go-round

Amen to that. If Robin isn't the mother, they really can't go down this road and jerk the viewers around again. It's a sickness. I half-believe that Barney marries another Robin who's Aunt Robin (whether or not that makes sense, and it doesn't) and Robin is the Mother — even though we've had all that talk about Ted meeting the mother at such-and-such a place, us having seen her ankle in Rachel Bilson's apartment, her being in that class of Ted's — like fans were convinced that Chloe Sullivan was the real Lois Lane (and like Jimmy Olsen's little brother turned out to be Jimmy Olsen, eye-roll) on Smallville.

Saturday Night Live: Zach Galifianakis & Of Monsters and Men

It was about as different from the McCarthy episode as possible, yet just as good.

While I get the comparison to the McCarthy episode, I disagree that it was anywhere near as good, and what was good about it was rarely (although not never) thanks to the host. Part of my problem, I think, is that as turn-on-a-dime as Galifianakis's schtick can be, most of it (especially on SNL) is not improvised, and when he breaks or flubs a line — which he did too often — the house of cards totally falls apart.

I liked most of the same stuff you did, especially the fake commercials and Darrell's House. At first I was really disappointed that we didn't see the completed video — I felt sure that Jon Hamm would pop up — and then I was so happy that we got it later.

Girl: Wrong. The answer is genocide.

That killed me.

Blamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07342343767763035991noreply@blogger.com
