Furillo’s actions might’ve seemed dubious to a 1983 network TV audience, but on NYPD Blue, not one character would even bat an eye."<br /><br />Today, his character would be celebrated as the perfect anti-hero. He gets shit done, y'all, and doesn't let anyone or anything dictate how he gets it done!wwk5dnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-19233722707683366802016-04-06T21:25:17.662-05:002016-04-06T21:25:17.662-05:00As much as Franz wanted to move away from it at on...As much as Franz wanted to move away from it at one point, he really is the perfect actor to play a cop. He just looks the way you'd expect a surly detective to look.<br />And the tone on HILL STREET is all over the place. That might've been a part of its appeal during its day, but it can make for some odd viewing in retrospect.G. Wow, that IS a heck of a tonal shift - all in a single episode? I agree with the sentiment that cops on TV are so far removed from what the job is really like. Beat cops who are supermodels dressed in designer clothes are less believable than a bomb robot pulling a panty raid. Even the extras now are pinups looking for an IMDB credit. Besides being so damn entertaining, one reason I like Dennis Franz so much is he looks like a regular guy. (He's the reason I've burned through 3 seasons of NYPD Blue so far.)Eric Magnushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13561025479642283501noreply@blogger.com
