You'll read it, somewhat, in my next post.boots~https://www.blogger.com/profile/11451943950396747401noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-70165213392095827022008-05-01T11:30:00.000-05:002008-05-01T11:30:00.000-05:00Well in the very beginning of rogue/gambit the wri...Well in the very beginning of rogue/gambit the writers originally planned on it being revealed that they were actually siblings, but that got dropped very early on.

But yes, i think both are equally entertaining messges, though i lean a little towards redemption because i like redemption as a theme and also, because i wanted to mary Gambit, i always wanted them to show that he could settle down with one woman.

The funny thing about my childhood is i never wanted to be one of the characters in the comics (rogue or whoever) i wanted to be my own character which was way cooler than anyone in the comic, and hook up with gambit or whoever that way.
I don't know if that's a gender difference or just a fact of me growing up to be a writer and making my own characters.

-SAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-56734494262109847382008-04-30T01:07:00.000-05:002008-04-30T01:07:00.000-05:00One of the funny things to learn in life is how ev...One of the funny things to learn in life is how everyone has those daydreams that when admitted could be construed as weird, freaky, or awkward.

EVERYONE DOES IT THOUGH!

No one would really think twice about an adolescent girl playing with Barbies, cooking dinner for Ken, or whatever.

I was a superpowered dude with a certain "je ne sais quoi" picking up the hot chick I couldn't touch cause she has an "affliction".

Thinking back on the whole Gambit/ Rogue romance - what kind of message were the writers trying to promote? Gambit's pursuit of the unattainable or his redemption from being "a player" to building an emotional, non-physically based relationship with a lady?boots~https://www.blogger.com/profile/11451943950396747401noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-33435734653335213862008-04-28T12:13:00.000-05:002008-04-28T12:13:00.000-05:00Also: "I would ride my bike around my neighborhood...Also:

"I would ride my bike around my neighborhood imagining it was a motorcycle and I was on my way to pick up Rogue for a date. I haven't read any of Kelly's much-acclaimed run though. I keep waiting for Marvel to get off their duff and put them out in a trade.

I totally remember that Valiant Aerosmith comic. Sadly, as an Aerosmith fan, I don't own it. I haven't read much Valiant stuff, but I worked with a guy at B&N who raved about it.

8-Ball does make a good exhibit for the "only in comics; this is why they're awesome" argument.

I haven't read any Cerebus. I too have heard that it really went downhill after Church and State II, and some of what I've read about Sim's politics has dulled my desire to dive into his work, but I really should check out at least the first two books I've got.

Snake-Eyes! I didn't even consider him for my list; probably because I came to GI Joe via the cartoon before the comic (where he's much cooler. But then, everyone was cooler in the comic than the cartoon). I don't know, though. I think Batman could take him...

Peter David's work with Madrox is in fact quite awesome. I am saddened by the thought of a time in which he doesn't write the character.

And apparently, I'm in the minority here, as the only Gentleman who doesn't have a man crush on Gambit.Austin Gortonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14281239771248780430noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-40516406516978224552008-04-28T11:56:00.000-05:002008-04-28T11:56:00.000-05:00Nice list - i especially appreciated the shout out...Nice list - i especially appreciated the shout outs to Gambit, Deadpool, Death and Multiple Man.
both gambit and deadpool are in the new Wolverine Movie - cannot wait!

-SAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
