Now I'm bored by it and really miss the brown suit!
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11639357528831180995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-26260554600766282832016-06-05T07:21:55.379-05:002016-06-05T07:21:55.379-05:00I enjoyed, or at very least appreciated, this more...
I enjoyed, or at very least appreciated, this more than expected. Logan’s search through his memories, real or implanted, made far more sense here as it was intentional and guided by telepaths — not that I don’t buy the triggers from last issue, just that the way he seemed to be acting them out physically felt to me like it needed better context or explanation. So I find this less a retread than a step forward in Wolverine’s journey to get to the bottom of what’s been done to him, in a controlled environment with people he trusts alongside him.

That said, nice as it is to acknowledge here that the X-Men are back in action with Logan part of the group, I kind-of miss the Madripoor stuff and occasional untold tales that the series began with (even if the Patch identity was silly and I was surprised that a Wolverine solo series would spin off with a premise that involved him not exactly being Wolverine). Of course it’s totally understandable that — any editorial dictates there might have been to get him back in costume and feature other X-Men aside — the follow-up to “Weapon X” delving into his past would happen in his own title, Omega Red notwithstanding (which’d seem to be at least potentially confusing things if the series don’t coordinate properly; I haven’t read X-Men #4 & #5 since they came out, and haven’t read these issues of Wolverine ever, but from comments here…).

Also, I for one will miss the brown costume.

Blamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07342343767763035991noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-78867866510770936652016-06-05T05:25:22.265-05:002016-06-05T05:25:22.265-05:00He wore the "new" one too in SM, until h...He wore the "new" one too in SM, until he ripped up it and had to dress to the old one as a back up. Or that's the explicit, official explanation.Teemunoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-76710505102505664872016-06-04T13:38:33.484-05:002016-06-04T13:38:33.484-05:00Yeah, Wolverine appeared in that SPIDER-MAN story ...Yeah, Wolverine appeared in that SPIDER-MAN story in his old costume, but I don't believe that's generally considered it's reintroduction. More of a "McFarlane drew it that way and nobody could tell McFarlane what to do" kind of thing.

Whereas when Lee draws him in the costume in X-MEN #4, it was a deliberate move on his part because he liked it better, and the change stuck from there, with Hama, presumably knowing it was coming, writing in a bit of an explanation for it here (and FWIW, I believe chronologically, that SPIDER-MAN story is considered to have taken place after this, because of that costume change).

Regardless, even if McFarlane intended for the costume change to be permanent, it wasn't (he continued to wear the brown-and-orange for several months after that story, including in the high-profile X-MEN #1), whereas when Lee made the change, it more or less stuck all the way up to when Morrison & Quietyly de-costumed everyone. So that's the change that counts. :)Austin Gortonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14281239771248780430noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-67531405333953726812016-06-03T16:24:35.915-05:002016-06-03T16:24:35.915-05:00Didn't MlcFarlane reintroduce Wolverines old ...Didn't MlcFarlane reintroduce Wolverines old suit first in the pages of spiderman 10 ?
Because that was released in May 1991, while Lee's X-men 4 has a release date of Jan 92.

Even with the usual cover date nonsense, that's still a discrepancy of at least 6 months.
