I almost groaned out loud at Hank’s line after Vera’s pros buddy — whom I suppose Mesmero also hypnotized into thinking she knew Vera — chastised him for saving her and whopped him on the head: “Now there’s a tart response.” How long had you been saving that one in your back pocket, Hank?

Blamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07342343767763035991noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-18738270304725556392015-05-19T16:41:00.364-05:002015-05-19T16:41:00.364-05:00@wwkd5: I keep thinking she was maybe last seen in...@wwkd5: I keep thinking she was maybe last seen in X-men Unlimited #10 (or whichever issue it was with Dark Beast), but wherever, given the fate of many an X-universe supporting cast, maybe comic book limbo is better than being use

Were I ever to write the X-Men, I'd bring her back, right after I brought back Ted Roberts. :)

@Teemu: The Right had fitted him with an inhibitor belt for that too.

Ha!

I could be forgiven for misthinking that Mesmero had some hefty presence at the time.

Indeed. The Right had fitted him...wwk5d: vaginas are gross

The Right had fitted him with an inhibitor belt for that too.

Verily, if they ever choose to publish old X-factor stories in X-FACTOR CLASSIC, I volunteer to write an 8-page back-up story titled "No ice, no guys" for that issue.

So, yeah. This issue was among my stack of original US books too, just like ALPHA FLIGHT #43. I could be forgiven for misthinking that Mesmero had some hefty presence at the time.Teemunoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-36219224242826114142015-05-15T13:22:29.565-05:002015-05-15T13:22:29.565-05:00"This is her last appearance to date."
..."This is her last appearance to date."

Adios, Vera! I keep thinking she was maybe last seen in X-men Unlimited #10 (or whichever issue it was with Dark Beast), but wherever, given the fate of many an X-universe supporting cast, maybe comic book limbo is better than being used, as...

"the next time Infectia appears, it will be when she dies of the Legacy Virus."

At least she was a noble sacrifice in one the classic stories of the 90s, instead of a pointless death used to prop up a 90s story that went nowhere.

"Things are still going well between Iceman and Opal, as she invites him to come up to her apartment before he's distracted by an apparent Archangel sighting. "

Missing from that scene is a thought bubble that probably went something like this: "Thank God I have a legitimate reason to ditch her now. Pretending to like Opal is hard, because vaginas are gross (maybe she has a single brother?)."

A good issue overall. Too bad Colleen Doran didn't stick around longer. She would have been a good addition to the book. And this issue does make me wonder what PAD would have done with the original cast.wwk5dnoreply@blogger.com
