I also think he literally wanted to use the novel as a screenplay, and thus, didn't want to have to take the time to change things himself if it came to that. I understand doing it for filming purposes, but what's the point of cutting it from a book, which has no effects budget? I guess maybe in the event he actually did adapt it to film, he didn't want viewers to be disappointed that the bigger stuff was cut?Matthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14580725636327122073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-19075575406250187932016-03-13T16:35:45.347-05:002016-03-13T16:35:45.347-05:00My copy of the paperback had a white cover title, ...
My copy of the paperback had a white cover title, which according to a little Googling means it was the August 1978 edition that followed the first printing in April 1978. So the red here looks completely weird. It’s funny what a difference familiarity can make.

The Ralph McQuarrie cover really is great, though — so eerie and evocative of the story; exciting too as pretty much the only photorealistic depiction of Vader in a new setting outside the movie at that point.

I saw art from the comics adaptation before publication on Chris Sprouse’s table at a con. He mentioned that they were making changes to the story to bring it in line with continuity, so I assumed that the Luke/Leia flirting would be played down, but I guess not.

Blamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07342343767763035991noreply@blogger.com
