Her next choice, which I will keep vague since even though it's already been covered in "next week's" post it's a spoiler to the post under discussion here, was more frustrating for me, despite (or because of) the fact that it was set up as necessary at the time. I suppose they needed to catch people who haven't read the books off guard and they expect cliffhanger happenings, so throwing it up in the opening was probably best.

Harrenhal is handled quite differently in the show and they kind of shot themselves in the foot with the whole Jaqen thing. She tests out Jaqen's power on a guy she overhears bragging about gangraping someone. Arya, who works in the kitchens, not for Tywin, has her dick-face master there killed next. After the fact, she realizes she should have chosen someone more important. The last death you will see.

All in all, her choices are handled well in the book, mainly because her predicament is different. In the show I'm chalking it up to "she's eight or whatever and isn't thinking of the big picture" also, show plot holes.

Also, I realize the majority of my contributions to the Game of Thrones discussion is "well in the book". I am okay with the idea of the curse itself existing in the "real-world", and I suppose this whole "not seeing his leg" thing is an extension of that, but it's definitely pushing it.

Since Mellisandre had to be smuggled ashore, should we assume that magic black smoke can't travel across water on any show?

Ha! I've ...
Game of Thrones: The Ghost of Harrenhal

I've had almost a week to process Renly being stabbed by Stannismoke and it's still surprising me.

Since Mellisandre had to be smuggled ashore, should we assume that magic black smoke can't travel across water on any show?

I can't decide if Brienne is Laurie Holden of Walking Dead mixed with a little Tilda Swinton and Janet McTeer in Albert Nobbs or the biggest, baddest damn Olsen Twin you've ever seen. But there's something about the way her wide eyes and usually blank demeanor mix with her size that creates a real feeling of vulnerability just waiting to break through her imposing, impassive mien — which, of course, it did when Renly was killed by Stannismoke.

Tyrion: "What? 'Demon monkey'?"

Littlefinger: "Do you want to be a queen?"
Margaery: "No. I want to be the queen."

Arya: "They say he rides into battle on the back of a giant direwolf. They say he can turn into a wolf. They say he cannot be killed."
Tywin: "And do you believe them?"
Arya: "No, milord. Anyone can be killed."

Go Arya. Go Arya. Go go go Arya.

Blamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07342343767763035991noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-746570074333671842012-05-06T17:43:19.451-05:002012-05-06T17:43:19.451-05:00Once Upon a Time: The Stranger

Either magic exists in the "real-world" realm or it doesn't — the maintenance of the curse itself notwithstanding, which I guess this falls under, but I'm not happy with it. While I enjoy reality clashing with FTL stuff in concept more than I thought I would — like Emma and August having an argument in the woods about absurdity that happens to be the truth, her saying "crap" and "screwed" while being the secret daughter of Snow White — I thought that August's leg turning wooden and Emma not seeing it was just (no pun intended) lame.

The less said about the "Regina seduces David" plot the better

I agree and found it all the creepier for feeling more like her really being pathetic than more manipulation.

VW: nforpork — Variable in a gastronomical word problem.

Blamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07342343767763035991noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-4169374174903839682012-05-06T15:37:43.890-05:002012-05-06T15:37:43.890-05:00I'll be back with comments later, but I wanted...
I'll be back with comments later, but I wanted to mention that Hulu (and probably the NBC website, too) has Amy Poehler's "Director's Cut" of the previous Parks and Rec episode, "The Debate", up, and also a "Producer's Cut" of the most recent one, "Bus Tour". They're five and four minutes longer than the episodes as aired, respectively (26 minutes even and 25.5, sans commercials). I don't know how they compare to what aired 'cause I didn't watch 'em on TV.

Plus: Arya rocks. I half-expected Tywin to start choking when she glared at him; the Force is strong in this one.

Have a safe trip, Teebster!
Blamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07342343767763035991noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-26687486173244771202012-05-05T12:27:20.229-05:002012-05-05T12:27:20.229-05:00Arya's assassin is one of the three criminals ...Arya's assassin is one of the three criminals that was locked in the cart and about to burn during the Lannister attack.
