On Game of Thrones!
The...Seriously, that happened. On Game of Thrones!

The mind boggles. That was the first time Jon and Sansa were in the same place at the same time since episode 1 of the series. Episode 1!

When Petyr arrives he gifts Robin a rare falcon for...reasons...

It was a belated nameday gift, per his dialogue.

Little Finger demonstrates how Robin is wrapped around his....little finger...

Ah, I see what you did there!

they warn Tyrion that he may think he's playing the slave masters but he's the one likely being played. I'm....not so sure?

Yeah, this is one of those places where I think TV (or at least this show) comes up short in dealing with a complicated issue. I mean, slavery is wrong, but Tyrion is also right that you can't declare it over and expect everything to work out (see also: Reconstruction).

That said, I'm not entirely sure his plan is the best course of action either. I get that the idea is that by seven years, something else will be in place to enable the existing Masters to continue to make craptons of money without slavery, but I'm not sure why they wouldn't just do that AND slavery. Making money a different way isn't a good enough motivation to stop making money another way, when it's possible to do both and make ALL the money!

I feel like the last time Daenerys emerged from a fire nude and unharmed the Dothraki were less than impressed.

The remaining ones were actually very impressed, but the bulk of Drogo's khalassar had already abandoned Dani at that point (which is probably what you're thinking of), leaving only those who were specifically loyal to Dani or too old/weak to leave/fight on their own left with her.

Jon Snow should learn that a dramatic exit usually involves exiting.

Given that he just came back to life, this was still not the most dramatic exit he skunked recently.

So are we really, truly sure that Brienne killed Stannis for realsies?

I'm not.

So what exactly did Tommen tell Cersei? Was it just about Margaery taking the walk of shame?

Unless presented with more info, I'm assuming it was just about the walk of shame.

How about you clarify what this religion is, what they believe, why they believe it and what the goal of the Sparrows are.

This is enough spot where the medium of TV is stumbling. Reading the books provides a little more background into the religion of the Seven in general, but the show could still stand to firm up the motivations of this movement as a whole. Like, is their goal to see everyone wearing robes with stars cut into their foreheads? Are they fine letting people live their lives so long as they're not demonstrably sinners, or is this a more agressive "purifying" type of religion? Was she CGI'd here??

Like you, I've noticed some tonal changes this season, and I suspect it has to do with no longer following the books so closely. Things are actually happening at a relatively brisk pace for a change! Prior years would've had Jon brooding over his resurrection at Castle Black for the entire season before moving on, and he would've just missed Sansa's arrival. But the show is suddenly paced like a weekly TV series rather than a meandering novel, and it's a big improvement in my opinion.Matthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14580725636327122073noreply@blogger.com
