Bizarre editing aside, he worked really well for me. He's a character I enjoy more in small doses. I thought Deadpool was fine, if under utilized, 'til the whole "Weapon XI" debacle at the end. And I'm not sure what timeline was screwed up by having Gambit older than Cyclops; a case could be made that he's older than Cyclops in the comic, and even if not, it's not THAT big a deal to have him older in the movie.

But look, I'm really not trying to pump up Wolverine here; I didn't think it was that great a movie either (just barely better than the X3 crapfest, like "A" said).

I was just less angry and disappointed with it than I was with Terminator. And frankly, the whole "vet does a heart transplant" thing didn't even bother me because I hadn't gotten that far yet; I was still shaking my head at the asinine "John Connor needs a heart transplant so he'll get the robot heart from the character the filmmakers just introduced to the franchise in this movie but they swear is, like, totes awesome" plot.Austin Gortonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14281239771248780430noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-44362256348617820072009-10-08T10:04:49.880-05:002009-10-08T10:04:49.880-05:00See, i thought that Terminator delivered more than...See, i thought that Terminator delivered more than Wolverine- i was expecting a Wolverine movie where Gambit finally got to make his debut, and where some other cool characters like DeadPool would be hanging around. Instead they raped Gambit and DeadPool, somehow Scott Summers is like 10 years younger than Gambit so they screwed up the whole timeline, and the only really good parts were when Wolvering was Nangry (naked + angry fyi).
I really liked Terminator- probably to a B level- i had some issues (such as a vet performing a heart transplant in a post-apocalyptic world), and i can see where you're coming from, but now that i've had time to sit on both movies, i remember Terminator more fondly than Wolverine (which i put just slightly above the crap fest that was X-Men 3)
-AAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-28539506420521711872009-10-08T09:58:26.123-05:002009-10-08T09:58:26.123-05:00I'm...sorry?I'm...sorry?Austin Gortonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14281239771248780430noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-36406958929936004342009-10-08T09:35:02.937-05:002009-10-08T09:35:02.937-05:00Man! It was great when Wolverine was berserker-raging shit up, but then Gambit is suddenly running across buildings to the scene of a fight he was participating in just a few shots before, so while fun, it was clearly no masterpiece.

Whereas Terminator was frustrating because it wasn't the movie I was expecting or wanting it to be. Like I said, I know it's not fair to judge the movie for not being what I wanted to see, but well, here we are.

(And since when do normal bullets affect a Terminator? I was expecting to see some quasi-futuristic weaponry, damn it!)

Look, you stick Christian Bale in a Terminator movie and I expect to see him bust up some robots, and instead we got Sam Worthington saving Moon Bloodgood from would-be rapists, for some reason. Meh.

It's like making an X-Men movie and then killing Cyclops off with no fanfare fifteen minutes into it so stupid Halle Berry can have more lines. Oh, wait...

Bottom line, neither film was all that good, but at least Wolverine delivered on what it promised, allowing me to enjoy the action scenes and numerous cameos in it a bit more.Austin Gortonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14281239771248780430noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-4438622432343299652009-10-08T08:54:46.373-05:002009-10-08T08:54:46.373-05:00i can't believe you gave wolverine a B- and te...i can't believe you gave wolverine a B- and terminator a D.
