True...
// while this isn't necessarily awful //

True. I would describe it as unnecessarily awful.

// using a Life Model Decoy of his deceased mother //

Michael: “You’ve killed my mother again. Twice you’ve taken—“
Wolverine: “Shut up, you moron.”

I can’t say it was all worth it just for that exchange (after Logan slices off the LMD’s head) but I’ll take the little victories where I can find them.

// when the whole political situation is resolved by Michael shooting a nuclear plant with his magic key and then being named President between pages //

Wolverine’s actually the one who does the shooting with the magic key while Michael’s flying the chopper, over Michael’s whining, although the gist of that stands. I think Wolverine’s narration regarding how it feels to have that kind of power in his hands is the closest the book gets to anything insightful or even interesting but, again, not exactly worth the read.

Blamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07342343767763035991noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-53630371903233867492019-02-28T01:01:57.957-06:002019-02-28T01:01:57.957-06:00He didn't have an eyepatch in Fantastic Four #...He didn't have an eyepatch in Fantastic Four #21, but Sgt Fury #27 revealed that a grenade exploded in his face. He declines surgery that will keep him out of the war, and is told that his eye will continue to function for the time being but will eventually fail as a result - essentially an attempt to cover for both Fantastic Four #21 and the fact that he wasn't going to be drawn with a patch for the rest of the Sgt Fury series. So technically he lost it in the war.bigfatheartnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-24830454673279466692019-02-27T19:08:59.154-06:002019-02-27T19:08:59.154-06:00Nick didn't lose the eye in the war. I believe the handicap was more due to a loss of vision (from nerve damage around the eye) then a destroyed pupil.angmc43@hotmail.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15379700547226493861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-12331363858280007952019-02-27T16:45:49.585-06:002019-02-27T16:45:49.585-06:00The name of Jasnia Schweik, the momentary minister...The name of Jasnia Schweik, the momentary minister of defense in a post-Soviet Eastern European state, sure does remind of Josef Švejk, the hero of The Good Soldier Švejk, the Czech anti-war satire on the adventures of a supposed bumbling fool in the Austro-Hungarian army in WWI.Teemunoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7266470995513648978.post-27106804063878538882019-02-27T15:00:36.489-06:002019-02-27T15:00:36.489-06:00Remembering how good Shawn McManus was on a few is...Remembering how good Shawn McManus was on a few issues of Swamp Thing during Alan Moore's run, seeing him go full 90's just makes me sigh. I mean, it's still recognizably his style-unlike what Herb Trimpe did-but it's still 90's art. What a weird time.Jackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00605826105741513741noreply@blogger.com
