Countdown to Christmas #25: Christmas

Dur.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Wherever you are today, however you're celebrating (or not celebrating), I hope the day finds you well and in the spirit of the season, and may it continue well into the new year.

Thanks to all of you who have been reading these posts, and a special thanks to all of you who felt compelled to comment as well.

  2. OMG! I was thinking the EXACT SAME THING! no way batman would wear a beard and deliver presents.

You'd think, being Batman, he'd at least grow the beard for reals.

  4. A rather belated but heartfelt Merry Christmas back at ya, buddy! I hope you had a good one.

You-all have to remember that the pic is from the '70s, when even though O'Neil/Adams and others had successfully re-darkened Batman in the comics he, Superman, and Wonder Woman were all-ages merchandising gold and used as nonthreatening icons just as much as the the Disney characters, Looney Tunes gang, and other once-mischievous-but-now-whitewashed cartoon stars. Okay, I realize that you do know that, and it's not like I don't really agree with you, but I'm just pointing out that it's all in the context. Seeing Frank Miller or David Mazzucchelli's Batman (or even Christian Bale's) with a beard, hat, and toy sack would, I suspect, actually be frightening...

  5. @Blam: Belated nothing: I've still got two more Christmas celebrations to go this weekend. The holiday season is still in full swing for me! ;)

Definitely. Especially since, being Christian Bale's Batman that sack would probably not be filled with toys but instead some intense crime fighting tool.
