Boots' Best - Julie & Julia

Amy Adams gives me impure thoughts.

Julie & Julia is about delving into creativity and disciplining yourself into realizing your abilities while pursuing a dream.

Without Ms. Adams, I don't think I would have even considered watching it.

In this film, she seems to have been given a "girl next door" treatment by the makeup and hairdo departments that accentuate her hotness. Watching her kept me enthralled.

I guess Meryl Streep did an acceptable job as Julia Child if you're into "good total immersion" acting.

As far as the film itself, there is a lobster scene with Psycho Killer by the Talking Heads playing in the background that had me smiling from the inside out.

The true test of any art is how much it inspires.

This movie made me want to cook. This movie made me want to write. This movie made me want to live.

Bon appetit.

  1. Awesome! A 'Boots' Best' I've actually seen! Now I don't feel like such an uncultured oaf.

It was very inspiring, and a lot of fun. Amy Adams is so adorable it almost hurts.

Meryl Streep is so good at what she does, sometimes it's easy to forget how good she is. This was one of those roles that's a great reminder of how good she is.

  3. @Falen: I know what you mean; I kinda want to get her cookbook too. In the meantime, you could just cook like you normally do, but just add a lot more butter to whatever you're making. ;)

  4. I also really really really want to emulate Julia Child now!

Before watching it, I didn't know the film was based on a "true story", as far as the Julie Powell angle. Very inspiring!

  5. Yeah, the Julie Powell story became a lot less inspiring for me when I read up on the "real" Julie Powell after seeing the movie.

  6. I don't know much about her besides her infidelities.

I'll just imagine Amy Adams having "infidelities" with Adam James Pankratz.

  7. Yeah, that's pretty much what I learned too. It was just so shocking because the character in the movie seemed utterly incapable of it (and yes, I know the two are vastly different).

I like your solution. Though I think I'll substitute myself for you...
