Brief Thoughts About Baseball (4/06/2009 - 4/12/2009)

Well, I won't go through a whole fantasy log this year. And no puns. But I will share with you a few brief thoughts I've had about the past week in baseball. I may may make this a weekly occurrence.

1. Just judging by the way he looks and acts, I can't imagine a pitcher looking like a bigger ass than Josh Beckett. He just oozes douchebagdom...and he totally should have been ejected Sunday.

2. After watching the Twins for a week they look suspiciously similar to how they looked last season. Maybe even worse.

3. Grand slams are awesome when they're by players on your fantasy team. Robbing a player of a grand slam when that player's on your fantasy team...not awesome.

4. How often this season will the Twins score double digit runs in one game and then not be able to crack 3 runs in the next couple of games?

5. I hate the White Sox....and they're looking like the early favorites to win the Central Division.

6. If you're a pitcher and you're on my fantasy team then I apologize to you.

Bonus PGA Masters Thought:

1. Angel Cabrera wins the Masters. This is lame. First and foremost because his name is Angel Cabrera. He should be swinging a bat, not a golf club. Secondly, I finally actually saw what Angel Cabrera looks like. He's a balding, middle aged, tubby guy. When a balding, middle aged, tubby guy is winning one of the crown jewels of your sport then you need to reexamine the credibility of said 'sport'.

  1. I am going to have a helluva time trying to stay interested (from afar) in my favorite team if we hover around mediocre all season. I have not been particularly impressed with the first 10 days. Even my stoic Canadian boyfriend isn't keeping my attention.

And can I just say that I have no interest in West Coast baseball? None. And that's all I get on my FSN channels. Angels, Padres, Giants, Dodgers, blah, blah, blah. Something about the California teams (and fans) just rub me the wrong way.

    Whining complete.

  2. I wouldn't mind seeing this as a weekly feature...it'll help sate my hunger for your witty and snarky baseball observations in the absence of your fantasy baseball log.

Josh Beckett has always struck me as a douche bag as well. And I felt bad for you when I heard about Prince Fielder getting robbed of a grand slam...and that was before I knew how singularly catastrophic that one event was for your entire fantasy team.

To answer #4: far, far too often.

    Stupid White Sox...

Kate: it seems the Dodgers might be fun to watch. Not necessarily fun to root for, but fun to watch, at least.

And you could always watch Giants' games in hopes of catching Randy Johnson eating a baby.

  3. Well, at least you could watch Torii Hunter tear up center field for the Angels...unless he gets ejected.

And I'm sorry to disappoint but Morneau got married in January...to the dismay of many a woman, including my Mrs.
